ALS 2 Recertification (ARC)
One-day ALS 2 Recertification course for Healthcare Providers with a current ARC ALS 2 certificate.
Description
The ALS recertification course is designed to refresh the theory and practical skills required by senior members of a multi-disciplinary team to manage peri-arrest situations and to treat the patient until transfer to a critical care area. The complexity and management of cardiac arrest situations, including decision making and effective communication with the team is included.
Eligibility
Candidates are only eligible to attend the 1-day recertification course if they hold a valid current Australian Resuscitation Council ALS2/ALS or Resuscitation Council (UK) ALS provider certificate. No other course certification may be considered.
Pre-course preparation
This course lasts for one day and consists of an update lecture and practical stations and assessments. Candidates must have a current ALS manual. Course material (and manual if required) will be forwarded one month prior to the course and the candidate is advised to study the manual thoroughly before completing a pre-course multiple choice paper, which must be handed in with the question paper on arrival. The pre-course test does not form part of the final assessment and should be completed without reference to the manual. Competence in CPR is expected. Participants are advised to practice CPR before the course.
